2 linked pairs of villas. c1843. Stucco, with low pitched hipped slate roofs to main blocks, parapet to set back entrance links. 2 storeys, 2 bays each except No.46 which has 3 bays. Nos 40-44 have pointed blank niches beside doors with reeded frames and cornice head (missing to No.42), Nos 42 & 44 with small entrance loggia; No.46 has Doric prostyle porch, fluted 3/4 columns to door with cornice head in round-arched opening. Nos 40-44 have sash windows with glazing bars, those to ground floor with stucco architraves and console bracketed cornices, those to 1st floor in plain reveals. No.46 has sash windows with glazing bars, that to ground-floor right bay round-arched, those above with stucco architraves; canted bay through 2 storeys to left bay with quoin pilaster. Nos 44 and 46 have pilaster down axis. No.42 boarded-up at time of survey. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings to No.44.
