Complex of mill buildings and warehousing, now restored and
converted as flats. Mid C19 with later block to east.
MATERIALS: stock brick with Portland stone details, recent
roof extensions.
PLAN: west single-storey range of which only the river front
remains, and later C19 block to east.
EXTERIOR: west range: 5 bays; central, gauged brick,
round-headed wharf portal flanked by similarly arched windows.
Brick triglyph frieze band with cornice and Portland coping.
Adjoining eastwards, block of 6 storeys, 5 bays with twin,
stepped gables with coping to street front. Ground-floor
windows in segmental-headed recesses with stone band above
from which giant segmental-arched recesses rise through upper
floors, containing windows and hatch rank (adapted as windows
and balconies). Brick cornice above.
At north-west corner is a detached lofty octagonal chimney
stack with Portland stone cornice cap.
Later C19 eastern block of 7 storeys, 6 bays with parapet
coping. Ground floor to street has 2 segmental-headed entrance
ways, similar window treatment as west section to all floors.
Hatch rank and some other openings with grey brick bull-nosed
reveals; engineering brick plinth.
INTERIOR: the timber floors supported on cast-iron columns are
said to be still mostly in situ.
