Complex of old peoples' housing, now flats, arranged around
quadrangle. 1837. Brown brick with stone dressings;
low-pitched slate roof with parapet to street front,
battlemented over centre. Tudor style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 9-bay front with octagonal, battlemented
turrets at angles of central, 3-bay projecting section.
Central bay, which projects further with stepped buttresses at
corners, has large, Tudor entrance with plaque reading "Aged
Pilgrims' House completed by voluntary contribution AD1837.
Modernised in 1961. The freehold given by William Peacock
Esquire" over.
Hoodmoulds over mullioned and transomed windows in centre
section, those on 1st floor in Gothic style; other windows 2-
and 3-light mullions with splayed reveals and flat brick
arches. Stucco string between floors and moulded cornice.
Entrance beneath chapel to quadrangle behind: 2 storeys, 6
bays to each side. Paired entrances with Tudor arches, blank
windows with hoodmoulds above; projecting pedimented entrance
feature opposite main entranceway. 2- and 3-light mullioned
windows in stone surrounds with splayed reveals.
