Education offices. Dated 1895. Woodhouse and Willoughby. Facade faced in faience with granite plinth. Welsh slate roof. French Renaissance style. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and high basement. Facade articulated by Ionic pilasters which divide it into 10 bays, each with mullioned and transomed window. Central entrance bay stressed with engaged Ionic columns and decorative panels between the storeys. 2-storeyed oriel window (ground and first floor) in left-hand bay, balanced by slightly projecting bay to right with leaded panes and strapwork decoration above mullioned and transomed windows. Central entrance, with round-headed doorway in architrave with engaged Tuscan pilasters and balconette over carried on moulded console brackets. Secondary doorway in right-hand bay with semicircular head and enriched entablature. Wrought-iron panels to basement windows. Central bay surmounted by projecting gable in which stacks form turrets each side of shaped and enriched gablet, with leaded lantern with wind vane behind. Shaped gable with pinnacles to left-hand bay, tower with strapwork decoration to parapet and leaded cupola surmounted by flagpole to right. Openwork parapet runs between these 3 gables. Axial and end wall stacks, with elaborate scrollwork decoration. INTERIOR not inspected.
