Orangery to large country house (qv). Designed 1773 by Stockman based on a proposal by Richmond, a landscape designer employed at Saltram; damaged by fire in 1932 and since restored. Wooden structure on a granite ashlar plinth; dry slate hipped roof with central pediment, all with modillion cornices. Rectangular plan. Single storey; symmetrical 2:3:2-bay front with central bays broken forward and surmounted by a triangular pediment. Doric columns to central bays, panelled pilasters to flanking bays, each bay with large hornless sash with glazing bars over a glazed apron and all surmounted by a Doric entablature with triglyphs. INTERIOR: not inspected. (Country Life: 14/09/67).
