Planned terrace of houses (former No.8 combined with No.7).
Early C19. Stucco or render; dry slate or asbestos slate roofs
behind parapet with heavy moulded cornice; No.4 with steeper
roof and 2 dormer windows; brick or stuccoed end stacks.
Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; Nos 1 and 2 each with a symmetrical
3-window front with central Classical style porch, others each
with similar porch to left of front, all with round-arched
1st-floor windows. Original hornless sashes with glazing bars
to No.1 (left) with fanlight heads to 1st-floor sashes; 2
original sashes to No.2 [1st floor], otherwise later horned
sashes. Porches vary in detail, as do the doors, all have
moulded entablature, incised pilasters and parapets;
round-arched lights to sides of porches, the windows of No.5
with fanlight heads, most have flush-panelled, fielded or
moulded 6-panel doors. No.7 (The Mount) has altered parapet,
pebbledash render and only 1 porch. Left-hand return of No.1
has central bowed stair turret with curved window with glazing
bars.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
Good planned group of houses with entrance lodges (q.v.).
