Small town house with later shop. C18, extended early C19.
Painted brick front on painted plinth; dry slate roof with
projecting front eaves and modillion cornice; tall brick stack
on the left. Fairly deep plan including rear wing plus wing on
the right.
2 storeys; 2-window range. Early-mid C19 hornless sashes with
glazing bars to top halves, paired sashes to wider opening on
the left. Ground floor has shuttered segmental-arched window,
probably the original doorway, on the right, and slate pent
roof over coved cornice of shuttered shop window and flanking
doorways with overlights and panelled doors, each doorway
approached by 2 steps. At far right is the rendered end wall
of the C19 wing with 2 outbuilt chimney breasts.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may be of interest.
New Street contains a high proportion of fine C17 and C18
houses.
