GV II
Villa in planned group. Mid C19. Stucco with stucco detail; dry slate hipped roof with projecting eaves and centre break with moulded triangular pediment; stuccoed end stacks with moulded cornices. Double-depth plan with probably 2 rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall. 2 storeys over basement; symmetrical 3-bay front with central pedimented bay broken forward and with end pilasters. Late C19 horned sashes without glazing bars, those to ground floor as pilastered canted bays with moulded cornices and hipped roofs; moulded mid-floor string. 1st floor has moulded architraves, the central bay with pseudo parapet as window apron and entablature to pilastered porch with moulded hood over doorway with pair of panelled doors and leaded glazed inner door. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest. Part of a good group of mid C19 villas. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Devon: London: 1989-: 669).
