GV II
Villa in planned group of villas. Mid C19. Stucco with stucco detail; asbestos slate hipped roof with projecting eaves and centre break with triangular pediment. Double-depth plan with probably 2 rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window front with plinth and end pilasters. Hornless sashes without glazing bars; the ground-floor windows are pilastered canted bays with moulded entablature continued as moulded cornice over pilastered keyed round-arched central doorway with plain fanlight over pair of panelled doors. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: side garden walls returned parallel to front as low coped stuccoed walls and square gate-piers with plinths and squat pyramidal caps. Included for group value as part of a good group of mid C19 villas. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Devon: London: 1989-: 669).
