SX5055SE SALTRAM POINT 740-1/53/553 Plympton, Saltram Park 01/05/75 Point Cottage (Formerly Listed as: MERAFIELD ROAD, Plympton Point Cottage at Saltram Point, Saltram House)

GV II

Lodge on quay access to Saltram House, Merafield Road (qv). C18, extended late C20. Roughcast render; dry slate roofs with pediments to front. Original lodge is square on plan but this has been later replicated as a deeper building on the right and linked with a flat-roofed building. Single storey; 3-window front. The original front is on the left and has a triangular pediment with modillion cornice and a carved tympanum, over rusticated stone pilasters, and there is a central 12-pane hornless sash. The right-hand wing front projecting forward is a replica except there is no carving to the tympanum. The link building has a central sash like the others but smaller. The original entrance is to left-hand return and has a verandah with rustic wooden columns. INTERIOR: is very simple.
