SX4858SE WIDEY LANE, Crownhill 740-1/23/123 (East side) 01/05/75 Widey Grange (Formerly Listed as: WIDEY LANE, Crownhill Widey Grange. Gate piers to west of Widey Grange)

GV II

Probable farmhouse, later a small country house. Probably C17, the front remodelled early C19. Stucco; dry slate hipped roof with projecting eaves, at the front, irregular arrangement of roofs over rear wings; large rendered lateral stacks to rear of front range. Irregular plan mostly C18 or earlier with 2-room front range, deep service wing at rear left in 2 stages and with wing returned at rear right with well house in front, plus early C20 lean-to conservatory on the left. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window front with plinth and mid-floor string. Early-mid C19 sashes with glazing bars and small horns; central doorway with 6-panel door with top 4 panes later glazed; much repaired distyle Doric porch with unfluted columns partly bricked in plus complete Doric entablature with triglyphs. INTERIOR: features include remodelled C18 staircase with turned balusters and later turned newel plus stone trough in rear right-hand wing. Roof structures not inspected.
