GV II
Terrace of 6 houses in planned square. c1810 by John Foulston. Incised stucco with sill bands; dry slate roof with projecting eaves; brick stacks over the cross walls. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys; symmetrical front to whole group with pedimented centre house broken forward and canted front to No.7 projecting forward on the right (3):3:5:3:3 windows plus 4-window return to No.7. Mostly original hornless sashes with glazing bars to No.7, otherwise later horned sashes, Nos 3-6 with glazing bars. 1st-floor windows of central bays have moulded hoods on consoles. Ground floor openings have moulded round arches on impost strings. Doorways have plain fanlights and C20 panelled doors. No.7 has pilastered porch with moulded cornice. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest. Part of rare virtually complete planned group by Foulston. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Devon: London: 1989-: 674).
