House. Probably C15 cruck-framed hall house with late C16 alterations, north bay added C18 and house encased in brick; C20 extensions to left and centre. Timber-frame with fictive timbering on brick to extensions, renewed tile roof and brick stack. PLAN: originally a 2-bay open hall altered in C16 with rebuilding at south end to give a large heated parlour; hall floored to give chambers. C18 bay gave back kitchen or dairy with an upper room (probably a cheese room). EXTERIOR: long 2-storey elevation with irregular fenestration. One 4-light window on first floor to left of centre and 2 to right, one late C20 the other with oak mullions and 4 lights, a similar window below, iron casements with leaded lights probably C18. C20 buttress. Door to left of buttress. South gable has more regular treatment with 2-light attic window and a 5-light oriel bay on ground floor with oak ovolo-section mullions. More oak mullioned windows to rear. INTERIOR: reported to include winder stair in north-west corner of parlour. Cruck truss with saddle apex to original north end wall; studding to this wall. Further crucks with ogee or double curve and an open cruck truss. Foot of truss exposed to east wall in hall. Exposed small square panels of timber-framing to parlour east wall. Chamfered beams with shoulder-step stops to parlour and parlour chamber, that to parlour chamber set axially. Hall and parlour fireplaces are similar with chamfered stop jambs and cambered wooden lintel. Roof has 3 levels of purlins visible, the middle one original with smoke blackening.
