GV II

House, now flats. c1820-50. Brick with ashlar facade and concealed roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 5 first-floor windows, with service range set back to right return. Tuscan pilasters through ground and first floors to ends and outer windows, architrave, frieze and cornice; similar pilasters to second floors, architrave, frieze and cornice. 2 blind windows to ground and first floors at left, otherwise 6/6 sashes throughout, all in plain reveals and with sills. Central entrance in solid Tuscan porch, 6-panel door with overlight with glazing bars. Left return has 3-window range with similar Tuscan pilasters between windows and to ends, crowning entablature. First and second floors have 6/6 sashes, taller to first floor; 1/1 sashes to ground floor; ground- and first-floor windows in tooled architraves. Right return has 3/6 sashes. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: left return, first-floor windows have individual balconies with Carron Company heart-and-anthemion motif. Railings abut porch and to front and side facades have concave lozenge motif. Forms a group with and abuts No.38 Priory Street (qv).
