Villa, now education centre. 1850-60. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof and iron balcony. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and basement, 4 first-floor windows with 2-storey, single-bay porch set back to right. Stucco detailing includes: ground floor, quoins to angles of main range and horizontal rustication throughout; cornice, with modillions to entrance bay; first-floor continuous moulded sill band; windows have tooled architraves, those to ground floor have ears and keystones, with tooled round arch, keystone and imposts to entrance, first-floor windows also have cornices on acanthus brackets, except above entrance a round-arched surround with keystone; those to second floor have sills on feet. 1/1 sashes, except 2/2 to first floor, all in plain reveals and with blind boxes; concealed basement. Entrance: flight of roll-edged steps between low coped walls to set-back part-glazed, 3-panel door between side-lights and with divided overlight. Entrance bay surmounted by cornice; otherwise wide modillion eaves. Left return: stucco detailing as front; ground-floor canted bay window with modillion cornice (no keystones) and feet; first and second floors have tripartite windows, with sashes as front. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: continuous balcony to first floor has ornate balustrade. A similar design to Nos 2 (qv) and 5 (qv) College Lawn.
