Two houses and shops, part of a continuous row with Nos 28 &
30 (qv). Mid C18 with later alterations and rear extensions.
Brick with lined stucco render. Plain tile roof, partly
renewed, with 2 roof dormers, brick dogtooth eaves and rear
off-ridge stack.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 6-window range (2 blocked).
Gabled dormers have 6-pane casement windows. Plat band to each
floor. 1st floor: segmental-headed windows, 2nd and 5th blind,
having 9/9 sashes with thick glazing bars, exposed boxes,
projecting sills, and shallow moulded keystones.
Ground floor: 2 partly-remodelled C19 shopfronts. That on
right has a shallow bay-window with plate glazing, deep corner
mullions, overlight, panelled dado; and entrance on left with
C20 part-glazed door, blocked overlight, wooden architrave,
and 2 stone steps; all under bracketed wooden cornice with
dentils.
Left-hand shopfront is similar, but has 4-pane window with
thick glazing bars, and C20 door with overlight in deep
planked reveal. At left end, a plate glass sash with segmental
head and sill. At right end, wooden-framed plank door leading
to side-passage which has vestigial light timber-framing in
wall. Deep rendered plinth.
