GV II
Villa, now 2 dwellings, and attached railings. c1840-50 with later additions and alterations including late C19 service range to right. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof; left end stuccoed stack with oversailing course. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement and with attic, 3 first-floor windows with 2-lower-storey, 2-first-floor-window range to right. Double-depth, central hallway plan. Stucco detailing includes quoins to angles; windows have tooled architraves with sills on feet and cornices on console brackets; moulded cornice and wide eaves on brackets. Main range has 2/2 horizontal-pane, horned sashes throughout, those to ground floor are tripartite; basement has 4/8 sashes; attic dormers have 3/3 sashes. Flight of roll-edged steps to central entrance, round-arched opening with tooled head on corbel brackets; within a recessed 4-panel, part-glazed door with sidelights and overlight. Service range has 2/2 and 1/1 horned sashes, entrance at left a 4-panel, part-glazed door with fanlight. INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including panelled shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: railings to sides of steps of main entrance have stick balusters, then panels of scrolled lozenge motif. Forms part of a good group of villas.
