GV II

House, now offices, with attached wall and railings. c1823. Stucco over brick with concealed roof, stucco end stacks; wrought-iron window guards and railings. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows, with 1-window-range set back to right. First- and second-floor bands; crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course. 6/6 sashes to ground and first floors, taller to ground floor, 3/3 sashes to second floor, all in plain reveals and with sills. Central solid porch has quoins to angles, steps to 6-long-panel door with fanlight in plain reveals and with keystones, frieze, cornice and blocking course. Similar fenestration to right range with 2 further small inserted sashes. INTERIOR: retains original joinery including shutters to windows and 6-panel doors in fluted architraves with masks; narrow-open-well staircase c1900 has carved newels; within porch a renewed door with lozenge frieze and fanlight with circle glazing bars. Otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first floor, outer windows have balconies with embellished rods and central scrolled lozenge panel; low walls with arrowhead railings to right. Rear has 2-storey verandah with lozenge and rods to uprights and lattice friezes, first-floor has embellished rods and circle and lozenge frieze to balustrade. One similar first-floor window guard. To ground floor are 2 ornate window boxes. One of a good group of 1820s villas in Montpellier Parade.
