Formerly known as: No.104 The Borough Arms ST PAUL'S ROAD Landport. Public house. 1899. By AE Cogswell. Glazed brick and red brick in stretcher bond, timber framing with stuccoed panels. Plain tile roof with ornamental ridge piece. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. 4 bays. Ground floor in brown glazed brick with plinth. On far left, at right of centre, and far right is a recessed 5-panelled door, upper panel to centre and far right door glazed with etched glass. Each door has mullioned overlight with segmental head set under fascia glazed with stained glass leaded lights, lower half of overlight to centre door blinded. At left of centre door are 2 and on right one 3-light transom and mullioned fixed casements with segmental head set under fascia each with moulded brown glazed faience sillband and recessed mosaic patterned apron. To left of far left door and right of far right door is a similar 1-light wide transomed casement. Flanking pilasters to each door and window, each with brown glazed faience cap and necking. Fascia with part of patterned mosaic face remaining, brown glazed faience cornice. Centre 2 bays of first floor is a jettied timber frame structure with stuccoed panels set on 13 heavy shaped brackets. Two 4-light wide transom and mullioned fixed casements each with plain glass leaded lights and a 4-pane fixed casement over transom. To left and right the facade in red brick has on each side a canted mullion and transomed oriel window each supported on 2 heavy shaped brackets; 2 front casements and narrow flanking casements with plain glass leaded lights and 3-pane casement over each transom, flat roof with cornice. Jettied timber-framed third floor with stuccoed panels, large shaped bracket at each end and moulded bressumer. Ornate strapwork at each side and below end casements. At centre are two 4-light mullion and transomed casements each 8-panes and over transom 4-panes set under flat timber lintel. Each of the 2 windows has a facing timber framed half-hipped gable, projecting verge with shaped bargeboards. To left and right is a 2-light wide transom set under flat timber arch, facing gable with projecting verge and shaped bargeboards and spike finial. INTERIOR: the original etched glass door entrance screens and

bar fitting are intact.
