Terrace of 14 houses, now houses, flats, hotel and office, and attached area railings to Nos 11, 15, 17, 25, 27, 29, 37, 39 and 41; there is no No.13. Numbered right to left, described left to right. 1820-34, shown on Merrett's 1834 Map, but not on the Post Office Map of 1820. Ashlar over brick (some stuccoed and painted) with slate roof, brick and stucco party-wall stacks; cast- and wrought-iron balconies and railings. Double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basement, with 4-storeys to left (No. 11) and pedimented attic storey to No.39 with attic dormer to No.41; 38 first-floor windows arranged 2:2:2:3:3:3:3:3:3:3:2:2:3:2:2. Pedimented house (No.39) and house to left (No.41) break forward. Stucco detailing includes horizontal rustication to right (No.11); full-height pilasters with panelled recesses to breakforward (No.39); first- and second-floor bands; crowning frieze, cornice and blocking course. 6/6 sashes where original, those to No.39 have margin-lights, all in plain reveals, those to ground and second floors have sills. Attic to No.39 has cambered 3/3 sash with margin-lights. Attic storey to No.11 has 3/3 sashes. Entrances alternately to left and right, roll-edged steps to 6-panel doors, some part glazed, friezes either reeded or latticed, and fanlights many of which retain batwing and circle glazing bars, No.39 has overlight with margin-lights. Basement has 8/8 and 6/6 sashes where original. Right return has horizontal rustication to ground floor, 6/6 sashes, taller to first floor, with 3/3 sashes to attic storey; tooled architraves to first and second floors, first floor has frieze and cornice. Central entrance has solid porch with Doric pilasters, frieze and dentil cornice, double 6-panel door and within a part-glazed door with overlight. Rear retains mainly 6/6 sashes. INTERIOR: noted as retaining original woodwork including panelled shutters, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor continuous balconies have lozenge motif with central panel with circle motif to Nos 37-41; arcaded rod and lattice balustrade to Nos 23, 25, 27, 33 and 35; concentric circles to No.31; Nos 15-21 have scroll;
No.11 has Carron Company heart-and-anthemion motif. Left return has first-floor individual window guards with Carron Company heart-and-anthemion motif. Area railings: lancets, X-motif and stick with bobbin; urn finials to stanchions. Ground floor window boxes to No.35. Some scrolled bootscrapers.
