House, now 2 houses and area railings to rear of No.103. Numbered right to left, described left to right. c1820, shown on the Post Office Map. Ashlar over brick with concealed roof and right and rear ashlar stacks, wrought-iron balcony and railings to sides of steps. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor windows and range to right of 2 storeys, 2 first-floor windows. Ashlar details include first-floor band; frieze and cornice over first floor; crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course. 2 window-bays are blind; windows at right are 6/6 sashes. Basement has 6/6 sashes. Entrance at right: flight of 7 roll-edged steps to 4-columnar Ionic porch with engaged pilasters, pulvinated frieze and modillion cornice, blocking course; 6-panel door, the 2 lower panels with incised circle motif, lattice frieze and overlight and side-lights. Range at right has 6/6 sashes to ground and first floors in tooled architraves in plain reveals and with sills; frieze, cornice and blocking course; entrance at right a 6-panel door with fanlight in tooled architrave. Garden facade to left return, 4-window range; floor-bands and cornices continue; end breakforwards; blocking course has sunk panels over end bays. 6/6 sashes, the outer windows to ground floor in taller segmental-arched recesses, all ground-floor windows with tooled architraves. Rear has 6/6 sashes. INTERIOR: inner doorway to No.103 has part-glazed door with sidelights and wide fanlight with batwing and circle glazing bars; reeded doorcase. Retains original joinery including panelled shutters, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: balcony over porch has elongated scrolls with central panel. Area railings to rear have scrolled lozenge motif. Occupies an important corner site at the junction with Bath Road. (Post Office Map: Cheltenham: 1820-).
