GV II

Terrace of 4 houses and attached area railings. Numbered right to left, described left to right. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with slate roof and stucco party-wall stacks; iron porches, window guard and railings. Double depth plan, mainly with left entrance halls, some with side stairhalls and some with spine halls. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, and attic to No 3, 13 first-floor windows (3 per house and 4 to No 4); full-height service ranges to rear. Stucco detailing includes first-floor band; frieze; blocking course and coping, ramped upwards to left end. 6/6 sashes throughout except that to first-floor at left an 8/8 sash, all in plain reveals and with sills. Entrances: 6-fielded-panel doors, some part-glazed, that to left with overlight in solid porch with Doric pilasters to angles, frieze and cornice with blocking course; that to off-centre right within distyle Ionic porch with pulvinated frieze and cornice with blocking course, glazing to sides; otherwise with fanlights with batwing glazing bars. Rear retains 6/6 sashes. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: porches to 2 central entrances have lattice motifs to uprights and frieze, tent roofs. Area railings where original have embellished rods to left, otherwise arrowhead, and urn finials to stanchions. Window guard to first-floor at left has lattice motif.
