Terrace of 8 houses. Dated 1847. Attributed to James Greenhalgh. Well coursed and squared stone with slate roofs. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2 storeys, 16-window range, comprising terrace of 17 houses built as back-to-back dwellings, and a house built as the vicarage for St Paul's church (qv). Doorways throughout in 4-centred arched architraves with drop-ended hoodmoulds, and 12-pane sash windows in chamfered 4-centred arched architraves, also with hoodmoulds. Full-height canted bay windows each side of central entrance in No.16, the former vicarage. Similar detailing on rear elevation (formerly a separate row of dwellings). End wall stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected. Moulded panels each side record name and date of terrace, which was built as part of a small model factory community by the Ainsworth family. This item was originally included in the statutory list 26 April 1974 and was removed in error on 5 December 1975. (BOE: Pevsner N: South Lancashire: Harmondsworth: 1969-).
