Pair of semi-detached villas with attached wall and railings. c1830-32. Stucco over brick with hipped roof where original (slate to right, cement tile to left); stucco central ridge stack; iron porch, area railings and to side of No.4. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and basement, 2 first-floor windows each, with single-storey entrance bays set back to ends, that to left with upper floor added. Stucco detailing includes plinth, pilasters with sunk panel through ground and first floors which interrupt tooled first-floor band, frieze. 6/6 sashes throughout, those to ground floor are taller. Basement has 6/6 and 8/8 sash. End entrances, flights of roll-edged steps to 6-panel door at left in pilastered doorcase with cornice and 4-panel part-glazed door at right, with fanlights with embellished circle motif, at right within parapeted range; range to left has 2/2 sash to upper stage. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Porch to right has scrolled lyre motif to uprights. Area railings have scrolled lozenge motif. Similar railings to right to sides of steps; boundary railings have arrowhead bars and dogbars, and urn finials. To left a ramped and coped wall. HISTORICAL NOTE: Park Place was developed by 1832. Forms a group with Nos 8 and 10 (qv) and Nos 12 and 14 (qv). (Chatwin A: Cheltenham's Ornamental Ironwork: Cheltenham: 1975-1984: 34).
