Villa, now 3 dwellings and attached railings. c1836-7 with later additions and alterations. Stucco over brick with concealed roof, left end brick and stucco lateral stack, cast- and wrought-iron balcony and railings. Double depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor windows, with one-and-a-half storey entrance bays to either side; with further single-storey range set back at right. Stucco detailing includes rustication to ground floor and first-floor band surmounted by Doric pilasters to ends and between windows, crowning architrave, frieze and dentil cornice with blocking course; first-floor windows have tooled architraves. 6/6 sashes throughout, taller to ground floor, all in plain reveals and with sills. Left entrance: flight of renewed steps to double 4-panel doors, within solid porch with cornice over and with 6/6 sash to right. Right entrance: flight of roll-edged steps to double 4-panel doors and Greek key frieze within solid porch with paired Doric pilasters, frieze, dentil cornice and blocking course; further frieze, dentil cornice and blocking course set back above. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: continuous balcony has lozenge motif. Railings to sides of steps at right have embellished rods, otherwise renewed. HISTORICAL NOTE: Built as part of the development of this area undertaken for Joseph Pitt in 1825-42, the general layout being designed by the architect John Forbes. Originally known as Pittville Lawn Villa and occupied by Col Michael White Lee until his death in 1847. All the listed buildings along Pittville Lawn form an architecturally distinguished group. Verey refers to this villa as 'excellently proportioned'.
