2 terraced houses and attached railings. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with concealed roof and stucco party-wall stacks. Double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement and with attic dormers and range at left with attic storey, 7 first-floor windows (3 to left house), arranged 1:4:2. 4-window range projects; entrance bays set back to ends. Main range: outer window-bays break forwards and have full-height Doric pilasters and entablature (cornice missing at right), blocking course and copings. First-floor band and cornice over first floor to right part. Ground-floor windows have tooled architraves, 4 to main range have cornices on console brackets. First floor: windows to main range and at right have tooled architraves. Mainly 6/6 and 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes, taller to ground floor, those to right have margin-lights, those above entrances between pilaster strips, that to right retains frieze and cornice. Entrances: 5-panel doors (upper panels raised and fielded, lower panels with fluted surrounds) with sidelights and fanlights, that to left retains radial glazing bars, in doorcases with fluted Ionic columns, frieze and cornice, and to right with pediment. Rear has 2 round-arched staircase windows. INTERIOR: retain original joinery including panelled shutters, dogleg staircases have stick balusters and wreathed handrails, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: scrolled bootscrapers to top steps. Railings to sides of steps have stick balusters, with scrolled hearts at left.
