Although originally on either side were 'rows of elegant houses', by 1845 when Rowe wrote his Cheltenham Guide (published 1850), he noted that 'nearly the whole of the left-hand side .. is devoted to professional or business establishments'. Buildings on the NW were the first to be developed. The upper floors to No.33 in particular form a very well-proportioned and richly-detailed neo-Classical design. Forms a continuous terrace with Nos 21-31 (odd), Promenade (qv). Nos 33-41 listed 31.7.70; Nos 45B and 45C listed 5.5.72.
