GV II

House, now nursing home. Early C19 with later alterations and extension. Alterations and extension by W Aubrey Thomas. Red brick, part in English garden-wall bond, part in Flemish bond; slate roof with rebuilt brick stacks. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 2-window centre range flanked by 2-storey 1-window projecting segmental bows with moulded cornices. 6-panel front door with glazed upper panels in doorcase with panelled reveals under stone ogee edge-moulded hood supported by ogee brackets. There are a pair of raised and fielded panels at fanlight level under the hood. Windows flanking front door on ground and first floors, and to added splayed window in re-entrant to left, are 6/6 sashes, with brick arches. Windows in bows are tripartite sashes with painted stone sills and wedge lintels. Attic windows are flat-roofed 3-light half dormers corresponding to 3-bay front of original house. INTERIOR: staircase with turned balusters and coupled newel posts on landings; 4-panel doors.
