SJ3174 VILLAGE STREET, Burton Village 794-1/11/16 (North side) Group of 8 raised grave slabs approx. 2m from E gable of Church of St Nicholas
GV II
Group of 8 grave slabs. 1783-1879. Red Bunter sandstone. Inscribed top slabs with moulded or bevelled overhanging edges with dates and names generally indecipherable. The slabs are raised from approximately 0.5m to 0.66m above ground level on the following supports; 1 slab on six baluster pillars with square caps and bases; 1 slab on six square section legs; 2 slabs on six cylindrical legs; 4 slabs on three horizontal lintels. These monuments form a significant group within the churchyard.
