Includes: No.8 JENNER WALK. Terraced house now flats. c1805-09 with later additions and alterations. Painted brick with stucco band, concealed roof, renewed right end stacks and wrought- and iron balconies and railings. Double-depth plan with left side stairwell and double-pile roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows. First-floor band. 6/6 sashes where original, taller to first floor, all in plain reveals and with sills. Entrance to left, steps to renewed 6-panel door with blocked fanlight in plain architrave. Low parapet and copings. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: stick railings with urn finial to stanchion to sides of steps (otherwise renewed); individual first-floor balconies have rod and central circle motif found frequently in this area (cf Nos 11, 15, 17, 31, 33 and 37, St George's Place (qqv)). HISTORICAL NOTE: building along the west side of St George's Place, from which Jenner Walk is a short offshoot leading to Chapel House, St George's Square (qv) commenced in 1805 (formerly Cheltenham Chapel); Jenner Walk is shown as built on the 1809 Map. It has been subsequently named for the spa town's famous doctor who lived at No.22 St George's Place (opposite), demolished c1960s. (Chatwin A: Cheltenham's Ornamental Ironwork: Cheltenham: 1975-1984: 19).
