SD71SW BELMONT ROAD 797-1/2/32 (South side) 26/04/74 Lilac Cottage, Horrocks Fold (Formerly Listed as: BELMONT ROAD Horrocks Fold Farmhouse. Lilac Cottage.)
II
House, possibly originally a farmhouse, and perhaps once 2 dwellings. Built in 3 principal phases between the early C18 and the early C19. Roughly coursed and squared rubble in small blocks, painted white; with stone flagged roofs. EXTERIOR: earliest phase comprises a low 2-storey range to the right: 2 storeys, 2 inserted windows to first floor, one in small square original opening, the other enlarged. Lower windows also inserted in earlier openings, but these are probably not primary, since one abuts a blocked 2-light rough mullioned window on a higher level. Rough angle quoins in part, and boulder plinth. left hand gable end stack, with secondary phase built against this gable wall, with blocked doorway immediately adjacent to the gable, and inserted casement windows, one on each floor, to the left. Early C19 building adjoins this building: 2-storeys over a basement, 2-window range, with doorway in added gabled porch adjoining right-hand gable, and inserted or renewed windows on each floor. Wide blocked segmental arched wagon entry to the right. Gable chimneys. INTERIOR: not inspected.
