Terrace of houses, now flats, and attached railings. Numbered right to left, described left to right. c1832. Ashlar over brick with brick party-wall stacks and wrought- and iron railings and balconies. Double-depth plan with service ranges to rear, that to left has 3-storey service range, otherwise 1- and 2-storey service ranges. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basements and attics, 6 first-floor windows. Between first and second floors are pairs of bands with incised Greek key motif. Continuous first-floor sill band. 6/6 sashes where original, with 3/3 sashes to third floor; all in plain reveals. Entrances to left: flights of steps to 6-fielded-panel doors with fanlights. Attics: gabled roof dormers have 3/3 sashes. Rear retains 6/6 and 3/6 sashes. Left return has 3 blind windows and a 6/6 sash. INTERIOR: No.3 retains original plasterwork including bead and reel moulding; some fireplaces; dogleg staircase with stick balusters and newel post; arch on corbels to hall; joinery includes 4-panel doors. Suffolk Court has dogleg staircase with stick balusters and mahogany handrail, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor individual balconies have rods and central ornate panels. Area lancet railings and to sides of steps have spearheads and anthemion finials to stanchions. HISTORICAL NOTE: shown on Merrett's 1834 Map. Forms a group with Montpellier House, Suffolk Place (qv). (Merrett HS: Plan of the Town of Cheltenham: 1834-).
