School, now day centre. Dated 1847. Coursed and squared stone with slate roofs. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2 storeys and attic, truncated to rear for construction of road. Jacobean style, with Dutch gable facing street. Central entrance with paired 6-panelled doors in segmentally arched architrave recessed in outer architrave with flat entablature with 'Boys School' in raised letters. Flanking 5-light mullioned and transomed windows with small panes. Oriel window over the doorway with strapwork to parapet, flanked by paired 2-light mullioned and transomed windows. 2-light mullioned windows in gable attic storey, each side of the parapet of the central oriel. All windows with small panes. Continuous string courses between storeys. Central plaque in gable, inscribed 'A.D. 1847 St George's Schools'. Truncated return elevation a 2-window range, the original windows surviving in the upper storey only. 3 storey single-window range adjoins the main building to the west, with low 4-light mullioned windows with hoodmoulds on each floor. INTERIOR: not inspected.
