Terrace of 6 houses and attached railings. 1823-4. Stucco over brick with slate roofs, stuccoed end and party-wall stacks and cast- and wrought-iron area railings and verandahs. PLAN: a symmetrical terrace, except Treeavon which is a small house set back and attached to left end in the same style. Main range of double depth plan with side hallways and 2- and 3-storey service ranges to rear. EXTERIOR: main range: 3 storeys on basement, 14 first-floor windows (2 then 3 per house), the outer houses break forwards; house to left well set back has 2 storeys, 2 first-floor windows. Stucco detailing, main range: ground-floor rustication to break forwards, first- and second-floor bands; crowning frieze and cornice; left return has ground-floor rustication surmounted by band and Ionic pilasters to ends and between windows; range set back to left has full-height fluted Ionic pilasters which interrupt first-floor band, crowning frieze, cornice and blocking course with copings. 6/6 sashes throughout, taller to first floor, all in plain reveals and with sills; some 8/8 sashes to basement. Main range, entrances: 1 to left return in solid 2-storey porch with Ionic pilasters, otherwise to right, flights of steps to 6-panel doors with sidelights (except to left return) and fanlights, except to left with circle and batwing type glazing bars. Entrance to house set back to left has right entrance a part-glazed 6-panel door with fanlight. Above porch to left return a conservatory with 6/6 sashes and hipped roof. Rear retains 6/6 and 8/8 sashes. INTERIOR: retains original joinery including 6-panel doors with fluted architraves and cornice with circle motif to corners, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: main range has first-floor verandahs with concentric circle motif with embellished rods to balustrade and scrolled motif to uprights, scrolls to frieze and tent roofs. Similar wide balcony to left return. Arrowhead area railings with urn finials to stanchions and to sides of steps. (Chatwin A: Cheltenham's Ornamental Ironwork: Cheltenham: 1975-1984: 27).
