Former headmaster's house and dormitory block. Dated 1861. Red brick, with yellow brick and stone dressings and hipped slate roofs, some of them patterned. 3 side wall, single ridge and single gable stacks. Gothic Revival style. EXTERIOR: chamfered plinth, diaper work and bands, cogged eaves. 2 and 3 storeys, 3 bays. L-plan. South front has an off-centre projection with a canted bay window with traceried lights and parapet. Above it, a 3-light window with stone mullions. In the return angle, to right, a square tower, 3 storeys, with an angle buttress and square spire with finial. Segmental pointed doorcase with hoodmould and shafts, and above it, a window. Above again, an inscribed datestone, 1861, with hoodmould. Beyond, to right, a flat headed 3-light window with pointed arched lights, and above it, a 2-light mullioned window. West front has a central wing with a canted bay window. East side has buttresses and three 2-light pointed arched windows, the central one altered to form a door. Above, 3 mullioned windows, and above again, a central 2-light pointed arched window under a bargeboarded gable. On either side, a single mullioned window. In the return angle to right, a polygonal stair turret with a pointed arched doorway and slit lights, topped with an octagonal spire. Dormitory block, 3 bays, has buttresses. 2-light pointed arched windows below, and mullioned windows on each floor above. INTERIOR has an open well stair with landings and foliage wrought-iron balustrade. Dormitory block has an open well cantilever spiral staircase with stick balusters and ramped handrail.
