GV II
Small country house now flats. Early C19 with C20 alterations.
Rendered, hipped slate roof with lead dressings. 3 wall stacks
in buff brick.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey, 5-bay front arranged 1:3:1, divided by
wide full height pilasters, to ends also. 1st floor band,
moulded cornice and parapet. The east front has tall French
window to the ground floor and a stone balustraded terrace to
the centre 3 bays. The south front has doorway with segmental
head, with fanlight and side lights, reeded divisions and
soffit. First floor windows are C20 casements.
INTERIOR: elliptical stair arch with reset stick baluster
stair. 8 panel doors with added overdoors. Arts and Crafts
fire surround, frieze and tiles to sitting room. Late Georgian
fittings have been brought in as architectural salvage items.
HISTORY: William Garfit, MP for Boston from 1895 to 1906,
bought the house in 1872.
