Pair of shops and offices. c1880, altered C20. Red brick,
ashlar dressings, slate roofs with stone coped gables.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys plus gabled attics, 5-bay front with
canted ends. Dentilled stone cornice above plain fascia and
modern shop fronts, string course, moulded cornice beneath 3
gablettes. To the first floor three 3-light windows to centre
and single 2-light windows to canted ends, with stone mullions
and surrounds and single cross transom at the top. To 2nd
floor a similar arrangement, set beneath pointed blank arches,
the windows having arched heads and colonettes for mullions.
In the gablettes 3-light arched windows with colonettes. Plain
sash windows to all openings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: the building stands between Dolphin Lane and Bonners
Lane, and was built by Sherwins of Boston as Smalls Emporium.
