GV II
House now shop. Late C15 origins, C17, C18, C19, and C20
alterations. Timber frame, red brick in Flemish bond, plain
tiled roof, brick coped gables, stack to rear.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys plus attics, 3-bay front with C20 shop
front. 1st floor band, moulded eaves fascia. To left a narrow
passageway to the rear with a C15 timber post and arch behind
fascia. To first floor a C19 central plain sash with flat
stone lintel, is flanked by C19 single canted bay windows with
panelled bases, moulded cornices flat lead roofs, plain
sashes. 1st floor band runs along the heads. To 2nd floor 3
plain sashes with segmental arches and keystones. In the roof
2 plain sash dormers with lead segmental heads.
In the north gable wall exposed at 1st floor level is C15
timber framing, and in the 2nd floor a C15 king post roof
truss, with a later C17 roof truss above is preserved in the
gable wall.
The ground floor shop area is now continuous with No.20
adjacent (qv).
