Headmaster's house, now flats. 1827, extended late C19,
altered C20. Gault brick in Flemish bond, Westmorland slate
roof with lead dressings. Stone coped gables with 2 brick
stacks. Rear and sides in red brick, with slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus basement and garret, 3-bay front,
centre bay advanced slightly with open pediment, plain end
pilasters, pinth, 1st floor sill band, paired dentilled
cornice. Central 8-panel door up 5 steps, with plain overlight
with open pedimented doorcase having engaged fluted half-round
Doric columns. Panelled reveals.
Flanked by single bordered glazing bar sashes. To the basement
2, and 1st floor 3, smaller similar windows. All except
basement have cambered wedge stucco lintels with fluted
keystones. In the pediment the triple crown Boston emblem.
To the rear, on the right, a single-storey extension
containing a 6-panel door with plain fanlight, contemporary
lion's head door knocker. C19 red brick extensions, 3 storeys
with glazing bar sashes.
INTERIOR: retains some contemporary joinery.
