II

Originally gamekeeper's cottage, later house. Early C19 with minor late C19 and C20 alterations. Ground floor of sandstone with ironstone galleting and red brick end quoins and window dressings, the first floor of stucco with incised lines to imitate masonry except for rear elevation of Flemish bond brickwork with some grey headers. Hipped pegtiled roof with central brick chimneystack. Two storeys: two windows. C19 casements. Late C19 porch with chamfered wooden supports, bargeboards and metal finial, the sides glazed-in in later C20. Rear elevation has brick lean-to addition with four cambered windows.
INTERIOR: Parlour has spine beam with one inch chamfer. Living room has open fireplace with wooden bressumer partially filled in and wooden cupboard. Simple staircase with stick balusters and square newel post with pyramidal cap may be original. First floor has original doors and C19 built-in wardrobes.
HISTORY: Originally built as the gamekeeper's cottage to the Ford Manor estate.
