Pair of houses, now offices. Late C18. Pinkish-brown brick in
Flemish bond, flat arches of gauged red brick; stone sills and
blocking course, stone doorcases; plain tile roof; 2 tall
party-wall stacks with cornices and pots; cast-iron grill. 3
storeys with half-basement, 2:1:2 first-floor windows. Ground
and first floors have 6/6 sashes; second floor has 3/3 sashes;
windows to centre are blind; all in plain reveals and with
sills and flat arches. Half-basement opening has cambered arch
and grill. 3 renewed steps to outer entrances: that to left a
6-panel door (upper 4 now glazed, lower flush beaded); that to
right is a 5-panel door, upper 3 panels are raised and
fielded, lower panels are flush beaded; in panelled reveals;
overlights have radial glazing bars. Doorcases (alike) have
plain pilasters with incised Greek fret, cornice. Crowning
moulded cornice and blocking course.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including
panelled shutters; dogleg staircase at left has stick
balusters. Plasterwork remains to some rooms.
HISTORICAL NOTE: shown on Young's Map of 1779. Part of a good
group of buildings which form part of the setting for the
Worcester Cathedral (qv).
