House, later used as offices, reverted back to a house. c1760 with later additions and alterations. Reddish-orange brick in Flemish bond with ashlar quoins, stone and timber doorcase and slate roof; cast-iron boot scraper. 4 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Plinth. Quoins to full height. Ground and second floors have 6/6 sashes;first floor has tall 6/9 sashes; third floor has 3/6 sashes;all under flat arches of gauged brick and with fluted keystones. Entrance at left: 5-panel door, the upper three panels are raised and fielded, the lower panels flush beaded; overlight with lozenge glazing bars and stained glass; in similarly panelled reveals. Doorcase has fluted pilasters and frieze with flutes and fleurons, cornice. Boot scraper.
INTERIOR: closed string dogleg staircase has stick balusters and shaped handrail. Fluted pilasters to ground-floor windows.
Nos 2-16 (consecutive) Edgar Street (qqv) form a significant group, together with Nos 28-34 (even) Sidbury; No.12 College Precincts; Tower House, No.1 Severn Street; and Edgar Tower, College Green (qqv). Edgar Street (in which all the buildings are listed) is a fine example of a Georgian street; it forms part of the setting for the Cathedral (qv).
