House, now café on ground- and first-floor, residential on
second-floor. Believed to have origins in the C16 with later
additions and alterations including re-fronting/re-building in
the C18. Brick, painted to ground-floor, under hipped plain
clay tile roof. No visible stacks. Painted stone sills. Timber
shop-front.
Original plan, double-fronted, double-depth with staircase
between front and rear rooms; ground-floor now open plan.
Symmetrical elevation. Three storeys. Two first-floor windows,
8/8 sashes in near-flush frames under flat gauged-brick
arches, sills. 4/4 sashes to second-floor. Dentilled eaves.
Central part-glazed recessed door to largely 1920's shopfront
which has pilasters, console brackets and integral blind over
fascia panel. Separate access to upper floors via entrance in
left return. HISTORICAL NOTE: prior to insertion of the
shop-front in the 1920's, the premises were a baker's shop
with a pedimented doorway flanked by sash windows.
