Villa, now nursing home. c1820 with later additions and
alterations including C20 ranges to left and right. Reddish-brown
brick in Flemish bond with red brick flat arches and hipped slate
roof, brick lateral stacks to left and right with pots, stuccoed
porch. Double depth plan with central hall and right side
stairwell.
2 storeys plus attics, 3 first-floor windows. 6/6 sashes
throughout, those to ground floor are full height in plain
reveals and with flat arches of gauged brick, sills; ground-floor
windows have blind boxes. Central entrance a 4-panel, part-glazed
door with sidelights and overlight with glazing bars within Doric
orch. Attics have skylight windows. Right return has 6/6
staircase sash with radial glazing to head; 8/8 sash and 6/6
sash; plain reveals and sills. Wide, moulded wood eaves. Ranges
to right and left of no special interest.
INTERIOR: retains original joinery and plasterwork. Dog-leg
staircase has wreathed handrail and stick balusters and carved
tread ends; service staircase has stick balusters. Moulded
cornices. 4-panel doors. First floor main bedroom has egg and
dart cornice and fleurons to ceiling frieze.
