House now shop with flat. C16 with later additions and
alterations including shop front and bay of c1900 and extension
to rear c1970-80. Timber framed with some wattle and daub,
stuccoed front facade and renewed plain tile roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, one first-floor window. First floor has
canted bay with pair of unequally-hung 6/1 between 4/1 horned
sashes and with fluted pilasters between windows and modillion
cornice which continues across eaves. Ground floor: end fluted
pilasters and raised corbels; left entrance a glazed door;
further entrance at left to passageway a
6-raised-and-fielded-panel door with blind overlight with 2
panels and moulded architrave and with further similar pilaster.
Glazed shop window on brick apron.
INTERIOR: ground floor has axial beams. Alleyway at left has
exposed panels of timber framing and main post.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Hughes notes that there are the remnants of 2
ranges parallel to the street, each with clasped purlin roofs,
apparently separated by a gap of approximately 1.5 metres.
Nos 57-69 (odd) Sidbury (qqv) form a good group.
