House, now shop and residential. c.1770 with later additions and alterations
including c.1970s ground floor shop front. Red brick in Flemish
bond with ashlar sills and lintels; plain tile roof, hipped to
front and right end brick stack with pots. 4 storeys, 3
first-floor windows. 6/6 flush sashes to first and second
floors, all with sills and chanelled lintels with raised
keystones. Plate-glass shop front canted into glazed entrance,
fascia.
INTERIOR: ground floor noted as gutted, otherwise not
inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Nos 20 (qv) and 21, The Cross form a
significant group of listed buildings at this city centre
crossroads together with Church of St Nicholas and Lloyds
Bank, The Cross (qqv) and Nos 1, 1A and 3, Angel Street,
together with Nos 11 and 12, Foregate (qqv) and Little Venice
Restaurant, St Nicholas Street (qv). They also have group
value with other listed buildings in The Cross (qqv), and all
forming an important visual framework for this entrance to
Worcester city centre.
