2 terraced houses. c1880 with later additions and alterations.
Brick with stone dressings. Roof concealed by parapet. Stack
with decorative bands, stone cornice, and pots to left. Timber
shopfront.
PLAN: Narrow burgage plots with principal axis at right-angles
to street.
Symmetrical facade. 3 storeys. 2 first-floor windows. Stone
detailing includes corbel and surround to oriel windows;
sinuous coping to bays; coping to main parapet; plain band
aligned with head of first-floor windows and sill of
second-floor windows; full width modillion cornice to ead of
second-floor windows. Canted bays to first and second-floor;
mullion and transom to first-floor with metal side-hung
casements, 4-pane transom lights; mullioned windows to
second-floor with 8-pane side-hung metal casements. Later shop
front with panelled pilasters, console brackets and cornice
incorporating blind; painted glass fascia; part-glazed
pedestrian door with overlight at left, glazed pair of
vehicular doors to right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A bold commercial facade of this date, with good group value.
