Rectory, now large house. Early C17, probably 1629 when the
tower of the Church of St Mary (qv) was built. Altered and
extended early C19 and C20.
MATERIALS: part timber frame with painted brick infill,
roughcast, part tile hung. Old tile hipped roof with 2 gables
on south.
PLAN: large rectangular plan with small extensions at rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, cellar and attics. 4 chimneys with
corniced heads and clay pots. 2 with cluster of 3 shafts.
Early C19 sash windows with glazing bars in moulded frames.
Entrance front to south has 2 gables in centre and tile hung
first floor, roughcast on ground floor. 3 long, C19 casement
windows on ground floor. 4 large sash windows on first floor
and one sash window in each gable, lighting the attics. Entry
porch, probably early C19 with paired, thin half-columns on
plinth, supporting heavy modillion cornice with segmental
pediment. Early C19 glazed double door.
INTERIOR: C17 wooden chimney piece in dining room with carved
half-columns supporting 6 raised panels with circular insets
and lions heads, whole in surround with carved figures,
dentilled cornice and plain frieze.
