Hall house, now house. Early C16, altered C17 and C20.
MATERIALS: timber frame with red brick infill, some painted
render infill at rear. Old tile gabled roof, half-hipped on
right.
PLAN: rectangular plan of 3 framed bays, centre containing
former hall, and crosswing on set of 2 framed bays. Single bay
stair turret at rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Large, offset chimney at left end, ridge
chimney of 3 coupled shafts to right of centre, both of narrow
bricks. Early C20 metal casement windows with diamond leaded
lights, some may be older. Entrance front, south, irregular.
Single bay gable projecting on left, with 4-light windows. Two
3-light windows on right on each floor with plain wooden door
and flat hood between 2 ground floor windows.
INTERIOR: much timber frame exposed. Jowled principal posts.
Queen posts and redundant crown post roof trusses, with some
sooted rafters over former hall. Ground floor joists chamfered
with shield stop, one principal joist has roll moulding. C17
newel stair in stair turret. Inglenook chimney.
