Cranbourne Primary School and

School. 1870 extended mid C20.
MATERIALS: red brick in Flemish bond, plain tile gabled roof.
PLAN: E-plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey with plinth, moulded brick sills,
coved eaves and brick quoins. Casement windows with glazing
bars and gauged brick arch heads, those on front gable are
moulded. Road front, south, symmetrical. 2 stage bell tower on
ridge in centre with ogee roof and weathervane, hexagonal with
open sides with ogee arches. Bell in lower stage. Centre
section has enclosed porch with Dutch gable and broken,
moulded brick pediment over plain C20 entrance door, with
pilaster each side. Urn in moulded bricks in break of
pediment. Small windows in each return with moulded brick
arched heads. On either side of porch, 2 small windows with a
tall window between each pair, forming a roof dormer with
panelled frieze and pediment. Single bay gable at each end
with decorative timbers in gable, 3-light window below with
brick mullions. Centre window has semicircular patterned light
with radiating glazing bars and dropped finial.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Railings run across the whole width with gate in centre. Iron,
plain with rounded tops. Fluted iron gate posts with moulded
heads.
